Overview

What happened Source facts

Sea-Intelligence has published issue 181 of the Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, with schedule reliability figures up to and including August 2026. As the 120-page report is quite comprehensive and covers schedule reliability across 34 different trade lanes and 60+ carriers, this press release will only cover highlights from the full report. In the backdrop of severe port congestion in Asia, global schedule declined sharply M/M for the second consecutive month, with the latest M/M decline of -5.9 percentage points dropping the August figure to 49.9%; the lowest point since September 2022. With declining schedule reliability, the average delay for LATE vessel arrivals also deteriorated, increasing M/M by 0.60 days to 6.81 days. This is the highest level reached since March 2022. On a Y/Y level, the August 2026 figure was 1.92 days higher. Maersk was the most reliable top-13 carrier in August 2026 with schedule reliability of 67.3%, followed by Hapag-Lloyd with schedule reliability of 61.5%. MSC and CMA CGM followed with 55.2% and 50.6%, respectively, and were the only two carriers in the 50‑60% range. Wan Hai was the least reliable carrier with schedule reliability of 23.2%. No carrier recorded a M/M improvement in reliability in August 2026. ONE recorded the smallest M/M decline of -3.5 percentage points while PIL recorded the largest M/M decline of ‑10.1 percentage points. On a Y/Y level, none of the 13 carriers recorded an improvement in schedule reliability in August 2026, with Maersk recording the smallest Y/Y decline of -8.9 percentage points, and PIL recording the largest Y/Y decline of -31.1 percentage points. PIL was one of twelve carriers with a double-digit Y/Y decline. In July/August 2026 Gemini was the most reliable carrier alliance with schedule reliability of 77.8%, followed by MSC with 70.1%, and Ocean Alliance with 48.3%. Premier Alliance was the least reliable carrier alliance with schedule reliability of 43.2%. --- 000 --- END OF PRESS RELEASE --- 000 --- All quotes can be attributed to: Alan Murphy, CEO, Sea-Intelligence. Why ProcIntel Rates This

Every rating below is produced from the logged facts by consistent, rules-based scoring — never from the tone or wording of the source.

Significance Significance estimates the potential procurement impact of the event, including factors such as supply, cost, operations, geography and strategic importance.

3 · Material
  • This type of disruption typically has a moderate procurement impact.
  • A single geography identified so far.
  • Wide breadth — 4 distinct organisations affected.
  • No procurement category has been determined for this event.
  • Time horizon is not yet assessed for individual Events; a standard short-term assumption is used.

Confidence Confidence indicates how reliable ProcIntel considers the event assessment based on the quality, quantity and independence of the supporting evidence. It does not measure the event's importance.

3 · Moderate
  • Reported only by secondary sources so far — no primary/official confirmation yet.
  • Reported by a single source so far — not yet independently corroborated.
  • Key facts (what happened, when) are fully documented.
  • Evidence was last updated within the last month.

Urgency How soon the evidence already identified for this event suggests action may be needed. Unknown means no sufficiently explicit or quantified timing evidence has been identified -- ProcIntel never infers a timeframe where the evidence does not support one.

Unknown

Timing not established. No sufficiently explicit or quantified timing evidence has been identified. Procintel has not inferred urgency where timing evidence is insufficient.

Impact Direction Whether the procurement impact of this development is assessed as negative, positive, or neutral/mixed.
