Overview
What happened Source facts
Sea-Intelligence has published issue 181 of the Global Liner Performance (GLP) report, with schedule reliability figures up to and including August 2026. As the 120-page report is quite comprehensive and covers schedule reliability across 34 different trade lanes and 60+ carriers, this press release will only cover highlights from the full report. In the backdrop of severe port congestion in Asia, global schedule declined sharply M/M for the second consecutive month, with the latest M/M decline of -5.9 percentage points dropping the August figure to 49.9%; the lowest point since September 2022. With declining schedule reliability, the average delay for LATE vessel arrivals also deteriorated, increasing M/M by 0.60 days to 6.81 days. This is the highest level reached since March 2022. On a Y/Y level, the August 2026 figure was 1.92 days higher. Maersk was the most reliable top-13 carrier in August 2026 with schedule reliability of 67.3%, followed by Hapag-Lloyd with schedule reliability of 61.5%. MSC and CMA CGM followed with 55.2% and 50.6%, respectively, and were the only two carriers in the 50‑60% range. Wan Hai was the least reliable carrier with schedule reliability of 23.2%. No carrier recorded a M/M improvement in reliability in August 2026. ONE recorded the smallest M/M decline of -3.5 percentage points while PIL recorded the largest M/M decline of ‑10.1 percentage points. On a Y/Y level, none of the 13 carriers recorded an improvement in schedule reliability in August 2026, with Maersk recording the smallest Y/Y decline of -8.9 percentage points, and PIL recording the largest Y/Y decline of -31.1 percentage points. PIL was one of twelve carriers with a double-digit Y/Y decline. In July/August 2026 Gemini was the most reliable carrier alliance with schedule reliability of 77.8%, followed by MSC with 70.1%, and Ocean Alliance with 48.3%. Premier Alliance was the least reliable carrier alliance with schedule reliability of 43.2%. --- 000 --- END OF PRESS RELEASE --- 000 --- All quotes can be attributed to: Alan Murphy, CEO, Sea-Intelligence.
