What the source reported

Source-reported

The battery management system does not inhibit charging when the cell is at or below 0°C. Charging in that condition causes lithium plating — cumulative, invisible damage that can later cause an internal short circuit and thermal runaway, risking fire, smoke and toxic gas release. As of October 1, 2026, the company has received no reports of incident or injury in Canada.
