Technology spun out from the University of Birmingham and developed by the startup PeroCycle Ltd. is aimed at low-cost decarbonization of blast-furnace and direct-reduced-iron (DRI) steel-making operations, along with other furnace-based industrial processes, like glass-making. The technology effectively uses commercial gas-separation technology to generate a high-concentration (~85%) CO2 stream from blast-furnace, basic-oxygen-furnace or DRI-plant exhaust gases.

The post Scaleup planned for system that can decarbonize furnace-based processes appeared first on Chemical Engineering.
