What the source reported

Source-reported

The selling prices in wholesale trade were 6.8% higher in August 2026 than in August 2025. Compared with the same month a year earlier, the rate of change was +5.3% in July 2026, and +4.9% in June 2026. A higher price increase than that in August 2026 was last recorded in February 2023 (+9.5% on February 2022). As in previous months, the price increase registered in August 2026 was largely attributable to the conflict in Iran and the Middle East, which resulted in higher wholesale prices of energy products and raw materials, in particular.
